[김천=황악신문] 김서업 기자=김천시 김오진 예비후보 (전 국토교통부 차관)가 21일, 자신의 선거사무소에서 아들의 병역 문제와 개인정보 유출 논란에 대해 명확한 입장을 밝히는 기자 간담회를 가졌다.

이번 회견은 최근 모 언론에서 제기된 자녀의 병역 연기 문제와 관련해 김 예비후보 본인이 직접 성명서를 발표하며 상황을 명료하게 설명하고자 마련됐다.

김 예비후보는 병역 문제에 대한 보도가 본인의 아들을 복수국적자의 병역 기피 수법을 사용했다고 악의적으로 묘사한 점에 대해 강한 유감을 표했다. 그는 "아들은 미국에서 태어난 선천적 복수국적자로, 해외에서의 학업과 직장 생활로 인해 병역을 연기한 것"이며, "병무청의 지도하에 이루어진 과정으로 위법이나 편법을 저지른 사실이 없다"고 명확히 했다.

더불어 김 예비후보는 아들이 적절한 시기에 국방의 의무를 성실히 이행할 예정임을 강조하며, 이를 기피하거나 회피할 의도가 전혀 없음을 밝혔다.

Kim expressed strong regret over the report's malicious portrayal of his son using the military service avoidance tactic as a dual nationality holder. He stated, "My son, born in the United States as a natural-born dual citizen, deferred his military service due to his studies and employment abroad," and emphasized, "There has been no illegal or improper action taken under the guidance of the Military Manpower Administration."
