[김천=황악신문] 김천시는 5일 김천시청에서 유한킴벌리, 혁신도시를 잇는 김천 희망대로의 개통을 기념하는 테이프 컷팅식을 가졌다고 발표했다. 이로써 도심지 교통체증 해소와 도시개발이 촉진될 전망이다.

이 도로는 기존 원도심과 혁신도시 간의 접근성을 개선하고 지역 주민의 교통 불편을 해소하기 위해 지방도 514호선을 연결하는 프로젝트의 일환으로, 총연장 5.64km에 1,521억 원이 투입된 대규모 도로 개설 사업이다.

사업 추진을 위해 국도비 확보에 지역구 국회의원과 함께 노력한 결과, 2019년 경상북도 거점육성형 지역개발계획에 반영되어 국도비 269억 원을 확보했다. 이철우 경북도지사와의 면담을 통해 시의회 의장과 지역구 도의원이 사업의 필요성을 강조해 예산을 확보, 사업을 원활히 추진할 수 있었다.

김천 희망대로는 교량 6개소, 교차로 3개소, 도로 연장 3.04km, 폭 20m(4차로)로 구성되어 있으며, 감천을 횡단하는 343m 길이의 신김천대교는 김천의 새로운 랜드마크가 될 것으로 보인다.

이 도로의 개통으로 신음동과 혁신도시 간 최단 거리 연결로 자동차로 25분 걸리던 거리가 15분으로 단축될 예정이며, 원도심과 신도심을 연결하는 도시개발 사업에 큰 동력을 제공할 것으로 예상된다.

삼애원 일대 대신지구 도시개발과 김천1 일반산업단지 4단계 분양에도 긍정적 영향을 미쳐, 지역균형개발 촉진과 새로운 일자리 창출, 시민 소득 증대에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

홍성구 부시장은 "도로 개통으로 기존 지방도로의 교통량 분산과 통행 거리 단축으로 지역 간 교류 활성화와 물류비용 절감이 기대된다"며, "달봉산 터널 건설사업과 지좌동 우회도로~호동마을 연결도로 사업과의 연계로 시청, 법원, 종합스포츠타운, 산업단지 접근성 개선에 큰 시너지 효과가 있을 것"이라고 말했다.

Gimcheon's Hope Road Opens, Easing Urban Traffic Congestion and Stimulating Urban Development

On February 5th, Gimcheon City announced the opening of Gimcheon's Hope Road, connecting the city hall to Yuhan Kimberly and the Innovation City, through a tape-cutting ceremony. This is expected to alleviate urban traffic congestion and stimulate urban development.

This road, designed to improve accessibility between the old downtown and the Innovation City and alleviate local residents' traffic inconveniences, is part of a project that extends the Provincial Road 514. A massive road construction project, it spans a total length of 5.64km with an investment of 152.1 billion KRW.

Efforts to secure national and provincial funding for the project, in collaboration with local members of the National Assembly, resulted in the inclusion of this project in the 2019 Gyeongsangbuk-do Hub-Type Regional Development Plan, securing 26.9 billion KRW. Meetings with Gyeongsangbuk-do Governor Lee Cheol-woo facilitated by the city council chairperson and provincial assembly members from the region underscored the necessity of the project, enabling smooth budget acquisition and project progress.

Gimcheon's Hope Road features 6 bridges, 3 intersections, extends 3.04km in length, and is 20m wide (4 lanes). The New Gimcheon Bridge, spanning 343m across Gamcheon, is poised to become a new landmark in Gimcheon.

The opening of this road is expected to reduce the travel time from Sineum-dong to the Innovation City from 25 minutes to 15 minutes by car, significantly powering urban development projects that connect the old downtown with the new city center.

The development of the Daesin District near SamAeWon and the phase 4 allotment of the Gimcheon 1 General Industrial Complex will also benefit from this opening, anticipated to promote balanced regional development, create new jobs, and increase citizens' income.

Deputy Mayor Hong Sung-gu stated, "The opening of this road is expected to distribute the traffic volume from existing provincial roads and reduce travel distances, thereby activating regional exchanges and reducing logistics costs." He added, "The synergistic effect of improving accessibility to the city hall, courts, comprehensive sports town, and industrial complexes is expected, especially when linked with the Dalbong Mountain Tunnel construction project and the bypass road project connecting Jijwa-dong and Hodong Village."
